| SNMP Device Modules |
The following devices are supported by this monitoring plug-in:
The Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP) provides an industry standard framework for the delivery of and in some cases the presentation of device/network monitoring telemetry. The way in which data is presented is documented in Management Information Bases (MIBs). The MIBs are essentially descriptions of how to organise data that is made available via SNMP. There are public and industry-standard MIBs and there are proprietary device/vendor specific MIBs. Typically, a device manufacturer or software vendor will implement some industry standard MIBs to provide basic device information as well as defining a number of custom MIBs for delivering monitoring data specific to that device or software. For example, a Cisco Router will present system information and network interfaces through the industry standard SNMP mibs. However, the router will only present CPU and Memory utilisation through Cisco's proprietary MIB. Lithium's Basic and Advanced SNMP modules provide generic monitoring for devices that support SNMP using the industry standard MIBs. The Basic SNMP module monitors only system information and network interfaces. The Advanced SNMP module monitoring system information, cpu usage, storage resources and network interfaces. However, whether or not the devices you are monitoring will present this monitoring data via the standard MIBs is dependent on the device and/or software. Basic SNMP Device Module
